I will sack you if you underperform– Tinubu warns minister. The Nigerian president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has sound a warning to all it appointees that he would not hesitate to sack any of them who is not give out the needed result, as he would not tolerate any incompetence in his administration.
President Tinubu sounded this warning during the 2023 Cabinet Retreat for Ministers, Presidential Aides, Permanent Secretaries, and Top Government Functionaries, which took place at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Tinubu stated that since becoming president, he has gladly taken on all of his predecessor’s responsibilities and liabilities.
He stated that there would be no place for excuses, which is why he spent his time assembling all of the brightest minds in his cabinet, who could assist the government in meeting citizen’s yearnings and ambitions.

Tinubu stated that he had instructed the Special Adviser on Policy Coordination, Bala Hadiza, to lead the Result and Delivery Unit, which would monitor key performance metrics for all ministerial appointees.
He stated that at the end of the retreat, all ministers would sign a memorandum of understanding to track who was performing up to expectations and who was not.
“If you are performing, there is nothing to fear; if you miss the objectives, we review; if you are not performing, you leave us; no one is an island because the bulk stops on my desk,” Tinubu told the attendees at the conference.
This has shown how committed the Tinubu government is to delivering the dividend of democracy to Nigeria. The president’s statement will now be a catalyst for enhancing the performance of each ministry.
Recalled that the president, on resumption of office, promised Nigerians that he would do his best to provide leadership to the citizens of Nigeria, irrespective of region, ethnicity, or religion.
