Internal crisis Rock River state APC – Reject care taker committee. The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is facing internal crisis following the appointment of Chief Tony Okocha as the caretaker committee chairman.

Party chieftains are expressing their dissent, contending that Okocha is not a bona fide member of the APC. This revelation was disclosed by Darlington Nwauju, the Publicity Secretary of the APC in the state, during an interview on Channels TV.

Nwauju addressed the existing leadership crisis within the party in Rivers State, highlighting that Okocha had allegedly worked against the APC in the last election in the state.

Despite being appointed as chairman and Eric Nwibani as secretary by the National Working Committee of the APC, Nwauju asserted that Okocha’s past actions raise questions about his allegiance to the party.

“As I speak to you, the number one person on the caretaker committee list is not a member of the APC.

Tony Okocha left the party and joined forces with Magnus Abe against the party. Everybody in Rivers State is aware that the man never campaigned for any of the candidates of the APC in Rivers State,” Nwauju stated.

He questioned the legitimacy of Okocha’s appointment, emphasizing the need to scrutinize the actions of the National Working Committee led by Abdullahi Ganduje. Ganduje, while inaugurating the committee, had urged them to work towards securing the state for the APC in the 2027 general elections.

It is crucial to recognize the broader implications of this internal crisis, especially considering the ambitions expressed by the National Chairman of the party, Abdullahi Ganduje.

During the inauguration of the committee, Ganduje urged its members to work towards securing the state for the APC in the 2027 general elections.

The internal discord within the Rivers State chapter poses a formidable challenge to achieving this objective, as the party struggles to present a united front.

In conclusion, the internal crisis within the APC in Rivers State reflects a deeper struggle for party integrity and coherence.

The controversy surrounding the appointment of Tony Okocha raises questions about the decision-making processes at the national level and the commitment of party members to the APC’s principles.

As the party navigates through this challenging period, the resolution of internal conflicts will be pivotal in determining its ability to present a cohesive and effective political force in the upcoming elections.
