Mohbad: Reps Committee summons Naira Marley over Mohbad’s death. In regard to the tragic death of Nigeria’s renowned singer and performer Mohbad, the House of Representatives has summoned Azeez Fashola, who goes by the stage name Naira Marley and is the owner of the record label Merlians, to appear before it as part of its moves to secure proper royalties and compensations for the works of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.

The joint committee of the House of Representatives has also invited Mohbad’s manager and legal team to appear before it.

The purpose of the summons is to investigate the issue of music rights and royalties for the late singer’s works.

The House’s Committee on Justice, Youth, and Legislative Compliance has scheduled an interactive session for October 30th with Mohbad’s manager. The purpose is to pursue proper compensation and royalties for the late music singer.

The shocking and tragic passing of Mohbad, who was formerly signed to Naira Marley’s record label, has prompted the Nigeria House of Reps to take action.

This decision was made from a motion sponsored by Rep. Hon. Babajimi Benson, who expressed concerns about the contracts and agreements that artists are often subjected to in the entertainment industry.

During the plenary session on September 26, the lawmakers affirmed their dedication to securing proper compensation and royalties for Mohbad’s musical works.

They also committed to overseeing the ongoing investigation into his death and monitoring the royalties owed to him.

In a letter dated October 26, signed by the Committee’s Clerk, Mr. Yusuf Ibrahim, Naira Marley and Mohbad’s manager were formally summoned.

The summon will provide the committee with some valuable insights into the situation and will guide them in determining potential legislative action.
