PDP Wins Bayelsa State Governorship Election. Governor Duoye Diri, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the Bayelsa State Governorship Election, has been re-elected.
Diri was elected in Bayelsa State following the announcement of the results of the previous local government, Southern Ijaw.
Diri was re-elected in six local government areas, while his closest competitor, Timipre Sylva of the All Progressives Congress (APC), won two.
After the Southern Ijaw result was announced, the gap between Diri and his nearest competitor, Timipre Sylva, increased to 65,088 votes.
Diri received 175,196 votes, while Sylva received 110,108 votes.
Officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) are finalizing the process at the collation centre in Yenagoa, the state capital, before the formal release of the results. PDP Wins Bayelsa State Governorship Election
