Plateau State University Bokkos proudly announces a landmark partnership with BUA Group, a renowned multibillion-dollar conglomerate in Nigeria, specializing in manufacturing, construction, and food processing.
The collaboration, initiated by Professor Bernard Matur, the Vice Chancellor of Plateau State University Bokkos, marks a significant step towards the infrastructural advancement of the university.
Under the terms of the agreement, BUA Group will undertake the construction of a 300-capacity female hostel at the university, addressing accommodation challenges faced by students.
Additionally, the conglomerate plans to donate over 20 patrol trucks to enhance security within the Bokkos area, showcasing its commitment to community development.
Mr. Ubong Ubong, Managing Director of Abdul Samad Rabiu Initiative foundation, the owners of BUA Group, expressed the company’s passion for supporting educational institutions, citing education as a priority for intervention.
He lauded Professor Matur’s leadership qualities, describing him as a humble, dedicated, and compassionate leader with a strong commitment to every assignment.
During the agreement signing at BUA headquarters in Abuja on 28 November, Mr. Ubong disclosed plans to link Plateau State University Bokkos with agencies such as UN Women and female entrepreneurs under the High Engagement Philanthropy Initiative. This initiative aims to further support PLASU and contribute to societal development.
In response, Professor Bernard Matur expressed pride in the historic event and appreciation for Mr. Ubong’s achievements. He emphasised the strategic intervention’s potential to reduce criminality not only on campus but also within the host community and Bokkos Local Government Area.
In a related development, Plateau State University Bokkos is set to engage with the Czech Republic Embassy in Nigeria to tap into their “development of civil society” initiatives.
This collaboration aims to contribute to democracy, good governance, the rule of law, and the protection of human rights, among other areas.
The Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Nigeria, Zdenek Krejci, affirmed their commitment to the timely implementation of the agreement. Professor Matur Bernard, the Vice Chancellor of PLASU, expressed gratitude for the historic partnership, recognising its potential to make a positive impact on various fronts.
