Speaker Tajudeen Abbas swears in new House of Reps members

Speaker Tajudeen Abbas swears in new House of Reps members. During a plenary session on Thursday, February 8, 2024, House of Representatives Speaker Tajudeen Abbas administered the swearing-in ceremony for twelve newly elected members representing different federal constituencies.

These individuals secured their seats through victories in the parliamentary rerun elections held the previous Saturday.

Despite a total of fifteen candidates emerging victorious in the polls, only twelve were present in the House chamber for the swearing-in ceremony, overseen by Speaker Abbas Tajudeen.

Among the fifteen newly elected members, seven belong to the All Progressives Congress (APC), five represent the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), three hail from the Young Progressives Party (YPP), and one is affiliated with the Labour Party (LP).

The following individuals were accompanied by their family members, friends, and political associates to the National Assembly Complex for their induction:

1. Umar Garba – representing Ngaski/Shanga/Yauri Federal Constituency, Kebbi State (APC)

2. Ifeoluwa Ehindero – representing Akoko North East/North West Federal Constituency, Ondo State (APC)

3. Faud Laguna – representing Surulere 1 Federal Constituency, Lagos State (APC)

4. Saleh Zock – representing Kachia/Kangaroo Federal Constituency, Kaduna State (APC)

5. Rabiu Kamba – representing Arewa/Dandi Federal Constituency, Kebbi State (APC)

6. Emil Inyang – representing Akamkpa/Biase Federal Constituency, Cross River State (APC)

7. Yusuf Tafoki – representing Faskari/Kankara/Sabuwa Federal Constituency, Katsina State (APC)

8. Adamu Yakubu – representing Birnin Kudu/Buji Federal Constituency, Jigawa State (PDP)

9. Yusuf Yabo – representing Yabo/Shagari Federal Constituency, Sokoto State (PDP)

10. Husseini Jallo – representing Igabi Federal Constituency, Kaduna State (PDP)

11. Mohammed Jajere – representing Fune/Fune Federal Constituency, Yobe State (PDP)

12. Daniel Ago – representing Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency, Plateau State (LP)

13. Emma Udo – representing Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency, Akwa Ibom State (YPP)

14. Peter Uzokwe – representing Nnewi North/Nnewi South Federal Constituency, Anambra State (YPP)
